We are a weekly youth led pipe ceremony that takes place on the street's of Winnipeg's North End every summer!
In July 2016, members of our community, under the guidance of Ninoondawah Richard began hosting weekly street ceremonies in the North End of Winnipeg. We continue every Saturday in different locations that have so far included Selkirk and Salter and Jarvis and Main. We have been using the hashtag #PrayersOnMain and #YouthPipeCeremony on social media. New events will be posted to the AYO Facebook page.
We welcome people of all nations, with an emphasis on youth pipe carriers!
Ninoondawah Richard is a volunteer in the community with AYO and the Bear Clan Patrol. He is a graduate of Children of the Earth High School and has been raised in traditional ways, with ceremony as a regular part of his life.
We were featured in the Winnipeg Free Press in an article entitled "Pop-up pipe ceremony on Main a spontaneous sharing of indigenous culture" in the summer of 2016
