History
This initiative began in the municipal election of 2010 with members of AYO going around and speaking with potential mayoral and city councillor candidates for Mynarski. Meetings with Rocky King and Judy Wasylycia-Leis furthered the development of this initiative.
Get Real Youth forums
These short interactive youth forums are fun and a way of allowing young people to ask the questions THEY want to ask elected officials.
First, get all the candidates in one place, give each a few minutes to introduce themselves. Then...You(th) ask the question, the candidate answers YES/NO. At the end they are given 5 minutes max to justify all their Y/N and you be the judge on who to vote for.
Get Informed Education Sessions
Usually held just before a Get Real, these sessions are intended to allow young people to research relevant issues and candidates platforms.
This is also where we formulate many of the questions that will be asked at the Get Real forum.
