“It’s hard to say how much of an impact what I’m doing will make, but I hope that people that are on the street will see us and know that we care...and maybe that will make a difference.”
The Midnight Medicine Walk: For Our Relatives Facing ExploitationThe Midnight Medicine Walk began in 2013 under the leadership of Lauren Chopek. She wanted the community to come together to show love for members of our community who are often marginalized or who feel forgotten.
Lauren and AYO wanted to bring our community, what we call the village, to those relatives facing sexual exploiutation and abuse on the streets of Winnipeg - but we had to do it when they would see and hear us. That's why it's at midnight, that's why this initiative moves around to different places in Winnipeg where we need healing. That's why in 2018, the year we plan to host our 6th annual walk, we are evolving and inviting YOU, to request and help organize a Midnight Medicine Walk in your neighbourhood. |
