BACKGROUND

The 100 Soccer Balls campaign is based on the very successful 100 Basketballs annual campaign initiated by Lenard Monkman and in 2017 celebrating its 3rd annual campaign!

100 Soccer Balls began in the summer of 2017 when Chris Clacio of AYO! was inspired to bring together a diverse collection of groups individuals and organizations

As we began to pull the 100 Soccer Balls coalition together, members of the Winnipeg community heard of our plans (on Twitter) and donated our first 30 balls (thanks Jordan & Heather). Not only did we bring soccer groups (Manitoba Soccer Assocation, Winnipeg Youth Soccer, St Charles Soccer Association) we were also able to bring together indigenous and newcomer groups (AYO/Ma Mawi & Immigration Partnership Winnipeg/IRCOM).

One of the unintended awesome partnerships that has developed has been one that
reaches across the city to Glenlawn Collegiate and Dakota Community Centre. Our kick off event (get it haha) was at Central Park field at a drumming event intended t bring different cultures together through music.

We have 2 major events planned (see above) and are looking forward to welcoming more partners, more drop off locations and more helpers/entertainers/support for our Family Fun Day!
